Newsletters and magazines

How I can help you

Producing a newsletter or magazine can easily slip down your to-do list when there's so much going on. And it can be difficult to tell people what they need to know in a way that's interesting, engaging and relevant to them. Many a crucial bit of information can get hopelessly lost, just because it's not presented properly.

Let me take the pain out of keeping your key people up to date by writing and producing a newsletter, magazine or e-letter for you. Just pick and mix from the range of services below to get the result you want at the price you want to pay.

I'll do any or all of these:

  • identify or advise what should go into your publication - usually in discussion with you
  • work out what the story is in any piece
  • identify who can give me the relevant information
  • carry out interviews by phone or in person
  • write the story, keeping in mind the overall purpose of the publication
  • source pictures
  • work with your own designer or another professional to set the whole thing out
  • get it printed and distributed
  • write any articles you like for an established publication, or start up a whole new one for you
  • train you and/or your team to write sharp, interesting newsletter copy.

What you'll get

You'll get a piece of communication that's a pleasure to read, however complex or workaday the subject matter might seem. I'll make sure it's relevant to your audience, in language they can relate to and understand, and that it conveys the key messages you want to get across. If you want your magazine to be a two-way communication tool, I'll suggest ways of doing that, and help you manage feedback.

Satisfied customers

I've written many magazines for different organisations, including:

  • PeopleMatters: quarterly staff magazine for the RSPCA
  • Frontier: quarterly stakeholder magazine for Hadrian's Wall Heritage Ltd
  • The Buzz: community development magazine for Newcastle City Council
  • Citylife: residents' magazine for Newcastle City Council
  • Alzheimers News: carers' magazine for Northumberland branch
  • Change up: magazine for Investing in Children

"Thank you, Jude, for all your help in launching our staff magazine. It was a huge weight off my shoulders knowing you were behind me - always only an email away, turning copy around at lightning speed, and with your knack of lifting an article from the okay to the eye-catching. I want to know the secret of staying so calm among the deadlines!"
